    Road to Revolution - Field trip to Liberty Hall

    On Friday, January 6th, Berkeley Heights students will venture back in time at Liberty Hall. Students will trace the path to the American Revolution from the first stirrings of discontent to the birth of the nation using primary source documents and artifacts from the museum’s collection. In this historic setting, guided by museum educators in period dress, students will explore the geographic, economic, and political factors that led to the revolution. They will also step into the role of a spy and learn about their methods along with a real colonial secret code.
  • Forensic Research at the Regeneron Lab

    Friday, January 6th, Bronxville students will take a field trip to the Regeneron Lab in Sleepy Hollow, NY where they will participate in a Dust Away Crime lab.
     
    Students will learn about fingerprint collection, differentiation, and analysis. They will also learn how to lift and analyze fingerprints from surfaces and analyze their own fingerprint minutiae. Ultimately, Bronxville students will be tasked with using the skills they have learned during the lab to solve a mystery.
  • Mindfulness Music Practice Part 1

    On Friday, January 6th, Cornell “Lord Judah” Carelock will join the Cloud Campus from the ArtsWestchester artist residency program. Lord Judah will be joining the Cloud Campus for a two-part workshop. He will guide students in crafting a collaborative beat and lead us in a mindfulness music practice. For years he has worked with youth to create participatory experiences utilizing music and visual art. His workshop will encourage students to write about a positive future. Please come prepared with paper and pencils!

    Juniors College Meeting

    Calling all Juniors!

    Join us online for a college panel discussion with FlexSchool alumni at 6:30 p.m., followed by a college admissions overview with our college counselor Trudy Hanmer at 7:15 p.m. Both sessions will be held in Jacqui's Zoom room.

    Experience Rwanda - Virtual Movement Class

    Brooklyn Academy of Music teaching artists will join the Cloud Campus on January 13th to teach students about the movement styles and traditional dances of Rwanda. Students will learn about the country, its history, and the ongoing process of reconciliation. Students will watch Rwandan performances, listen to indigenous rhythms, and then warm up their bodies with a call-and-response song and dance.
  • FlexSchool's Got Talent!

    On Friday, January 13th, students on the Berkeley Heights campus will dedicate their afternoon to a school-wide talent show! This is a great opportunity for students to take the spotlight and showcase their many skills. Whether it be through song, poetry, or comedy, it is guaranteed to be a fun-filled event. If you have an act to contribute, speak to Anthony!
  • Monumental Consequences w/ Guest Historian

    On Friday, January 13th, visiting historian Cynthia Metcalf will lead the Bronxville students in a game of Monumental Consequences. 
    Students take on the role of villagers in the fictional town of La Ville, where an army has just taken possession of their centuries-old church. The villagers must come together to decide, is art ever worth dying for? 

    This live-action game relies on ethics, team building, and persuasion. Students will engage in an ongoing debate about art appreciation.

    Bronxville on the Big Screen

    On the morning of Friday, January 20th, Bronxville students will head to the Bronxville Picture House to view the short dystopian film that they made back in October. Students will get to sit back and see themselves on the big screen! They will also watch an educational film followed by a guided discussion with film experts.

    NJ's Watershed w/ Great Swamp Educators

    On Friday, January 27th, educators from the Great Swamp will visit the Berkeley Heights campus to bring students a hands-on water quality testing program. With a demonstration using their Enviroscape three-dimensional model of a community, and a topographic model of the Great Swamp Watershed, students will be guided through the “real” water cycle. The presentation includes discussions of what a watershed is, where our drinking water comes from, where our wastewater goes, and best practices to reduce our impact on local waterways. Their visit will be followed up by a field trip in the Spring!
  • Winter Tales from Around the World

    On Friday, January 27th, the Cloud Campus will be joined by The Actors Company who will share and perform Winter Tales from Around the World. Award-winning actor J.T Turner will perform the roles of many different characters, sharing a treasury of stories that celebrate the wonders of winter, and the qualities inside us that warm our hearts throughout the season. Students may take inspiration to do their own writing throughout the cold winter months! They’re encouraged to discuss tones and themes present in Winter Tales.
  • Bronxville Mini Games

    On Friday, January 27th, Steve Hochman will be joining the BX campus to lead our students in a series of mini-games. Games will encourage collaborative storytelling and will challenge students and teachers to respond to ethical dilemmas. Steve Hochman has decades of experience working with students and is well known for his customized, creativity-centered workshops. Teams will enjoy puzzle-solving!
  • Guided Meditation - Online

    FlexSchool parent Lynne Bielska, RN, will guide a virtual meditation on Zoom in Susana Montague's Zoom room.
