    Celebrating Black History Month at the Paper Mill Playhouse


    High school students from our Berkeley Heights campus will kick off Black History Month at the Paper Mill Playhouse! We are excited to attend After Midnight and be transported back to the Harlem Renaissance. The musical will intertwine the poetry of Langston Hughes with songs from big band music legends such as Duke Ellington and Dorothy Fields.

    Field Trip to MCNY

    1220 5th Ave, New York, NY 10029


    On Friday, February 2nd, students will take a field trip to the Museum of the City of New York to participate in a 90-minute program called “I Dream of NYC: 100 Years of New York Life through Art”.

    In this workshop, students will explore how painters, fashion designers, and photographers have used their imaginations to create art inspired by NYC’s public destinations and private refuges. After viewing the exhibition, students will create their own Faith Ringgold-inspired story quilts to document the destinations that make the city their own. This program is part of the Museum’s 100th anniversary year and focuses on social and emotional learning as we explore the city we call home.

    Please come prepared with a packed lunch.
    Transportation departs promptly at 10:30 AM.
  • My Neurodiversity Journey: Owning Your Education

    Author, speaker, and 2e student Jordan O’Kelley will take Cloud FlexFriday students through his journey to Cal State LA, where he is majoring in Physics with a minor in Mathematics. Jordan was diagnosed with autism at age 4 and identified as gifted age 10. He advocates for strength-based education, encouraging neurodiverse individuals to follow their strengths and embrace their differences. 

    Jordan has written articles, participated in podcasts, and speaks at education conferences and universities on his experiences with public and private education as 2e student. He is a part of The O’Kelley Lab— a grass roots effort to promote supports, resources, and creative solutions for neurodiverse and gifted individuals. Jordan also created a YouTube video, “2e Like Me,” to promote 2e awareness and advocacy, and is featured in the award-winning documentary, “O’Kelley Legends: 2e Behind the Scenes.”

    Speaker Series: Dr. Michael Fraser

    Internet/Technology/Screen Addiction: Helping Youth UnPlug

    Attendees will improve their knowledge/skills in how to have open conversations with their children about digital screens (smartphones, video games, iPads), how to set limits, and how to use technology in a way that promotes healthy living. Digital screens have become an increasing challenge academically, socially, and mentally; not only for young people but for adults as well. This workshop will offer practical tips to prevent problems before they occur. Register here.

    "How to Dance in Ohio" - Live on Broadway

    Get ready for a captivating day of theater as we embark on a field trip to Broadway to witness the enchanting musical "How to Dance in Ohio." This thought-provoking production explores the universal themes of self-discovery, acceptance, and the joy of embracing life's challenges. After the show, we will get a special treat and meet the author of the original HBO documentary, How to Dance in Ohio, Alexandra Shiva.

    Bronxville's Lunar New Year Celebration!



    On Friday, February 9th, we will have an extended Town Hall to celebrate the Lunar New Year. In 2024, we ring in the Year of the Dragon! Led by our math teacher, Linda Wu, students will learn about Chinese cultural traditions and the significance of this holiday. 

    We encourage students to wear something red, symbolizing good luck, fortune, and prosperity!

    On Friday, February 9th, students will take a field trip to SPYSCAPE in Manhattan and participate in the SPY HQ Experience. Students will explore hidden worlds, break codes, run surveillance, and spot liars - while a system developed with MI6 experts reveals their personal spy role and profile. Combining an immersive adventure into the world of secrets and spies with an authentic exploration of individual superpowers, SPYSCAPE inspires students to explore how history and design, psychology, and STEM, shape their lives.

    Please come prepared with a packed lunch. Transportation departs promptly at 10:00 AM.
  • Field Trip to the Paper Mill Playhouse


    Middle school students from our Berkeley Heights campus are set to celebrate Black History Month at the Paper Mill Playhouse! On Friday, February 9, we will attend Lift Every Voice: A Letter to the Editor—a multimedia piece exploring the music, images, and spirit of mid-century America. The story centers on Junebug, a 12-year-old boy in the 1960’s South, who learns of James Meredith’s attempt to enroll as the first African American at the University of Mississippi. When the editor of “The Oxford Eagle,” a local newspaper, expresses her negative opinions on integration, Junebug takes matters into his own hands and confronts these views, speaking out for equality and inclusion.
  • Cloud Celebration of Black Composers

    Florence PriceAs part of our Cloud celebration of Black History Month, Cloud FlexFriday students will be treated to musical selections, including several from contemporary composers, as well as performances ASU's Hayes School of Music ensembles. We will hear works from Valerie Coleman, Florence Price, Scott Joplin, Wes Montgomery and more in this beautifully curated concert.
