Meet Uno – a bald eagle who was rescued after being found, injured, emaciated and unable to hunt in Sitka, Alaska in 1989. FlexSchool students were treated to a “meet and greet” session with Uno, along with other awesome birds of prey, during a recent FlexFriday visit to the Raptor Trust.
FlexSchool students were treated to a “meet and greet” session with Uno, along with other awesome birds of prey, during a recent FlexFriday visit to the Raptor Trust. In addition to the thousands of birds that the facility has rescued and rehabilitated for release, approximately 50 feathered friends current call the Raptor Trust their permanent home. These include disabled birds who can’t be safely released into the wild, such as a peregrine falcon, a golden eagle, a black vulture and an assortment of owls.
During their field trip, students had the chance to connect with experts, explore the grounds of the refuge, and learn all about local bird populations and The Raptor Trust’s rehabilitation mission.
