FlexSchool students got to meet video game producer Steve Patterson on a recent FlexFriday virtual visit. Steve told the story of how he broke into the business, and shared his best tips for building a successful career in this exciting field!
One challenging skill that everyone in this industry needs is the ability to seek and use criticism. Game designers and producers share their games with testers before releasing them. And they don’t get insulted when a tester “breaks the game,” revealing a bug or a flaw – they welcome it! That’s because they know that the more information they get, the better the gaming experience will be for the users once the game is published.  It often takes many iterations to work out all the kinks. That’s a lot of work -- but it’s worth it!
